RØY is one of the artists who helped prove that Portugal’s new schranz generation could create its own records instead of only playing everybody else’s. His strongest quality as a producer is not simply hardness: it is his understanding of groove, progression and journey.

RØY approaches tracks like a storyteller. Elements arrive for a reason, tension develops, releases happen at the right moment and the dancefloor is taken somewhere rather than simply hit repeatedly. YOU CAN DANCE EP gave that approach four original tracks. Xavier, Luckes, RÆKKE and ORNELLA later dismantled those records and found four completely different paths through them. Good source material survives being destroyed. RØY writes tracks with enough story inside them to survive reinterpretation.
