ORNELLA has developed one of the clearest personalities in Portugal’s current hard-techno and schranz landscape. Behind the decks, long-format all-night and all-day performances demonstrate something that short festival sets cannot: knowledge, range and the ability to control energy over hours instead of minutes.

That DJ intelligence also makes her interesting as a producer and remixer. For YOU CAN DANCE, THE REMIXES, ORNELLA took RØY’s “Shake It” and approached it from her own perspective rather than simply making the original harder. A strong remix should reveal something about the remixer, and hers does. Within HTV, ORNELLA stands out for the way her DJ experience feeds directly into her production: she understands tension, pacing and when a track needs to push or pull back. That sense of movement is what gives her work its character.
